Daddy had promised the girls a playhouse at the beginning of the summer as an early birthday gift. They were really looking forward to it but we never got started. Now, last Saturday, we
started. Mama said that it would be a good idea for me to title the blog post about it, Little House on the Prairie, so that's what I decided to do. Here's a bunch of pictures about our start.

Samuel, screwing down the floor. |

Edgar, also screwing down the floor. |

Flipping the floor over to finish the other side. |
Leandro needed a pouch on so that he could work too. |
Here he is, hammering away. |
Daddy said that putting in insulation was a girl's job. (You apparently have to do it gently.) But the boys did it anyway. |
Putting in insulation.
Samuel enjoyed stapling the poly on. |
"I'm gonna hit you in, Staple." |
More stapling. |
Next they put on the plywood for the top of the floor. |
Almost done. |
Here's the painting crew in action. |
More painting. |
Second coat? |
The floor is all done. |
The second evening, I did way more portraits than action pictures but I liked them so much that I thought I'd post them too.
Edgar. |
Samuel had to learn to tie shoes that evening too. |
Elfrieda. |
Leandro. |
The children got to listen to a Bible story and watch the action at the same time. |
Imelda was reading A Song for Your Honor. |
Daddy, cutting boards. |
The first wall is being put together. |
Leandro ran around on the chalk lines, which made his feet red from the bottom. |
Is this square? |
Did we do this right? |
Second wall started. |
Leandro got to press the trigger on the Paslode. |
Samuel did too. |
And so did Elfrieda. (Notice that her eyes are closed.) |
Edgar got to use the saw too. |
Elfrieda built a little house of her own. |
Nailing down the walls. |
Third wall up. |
Mama did some crocheting while we were building. |
Yes, it took both of us to see if this wall was level. (And then we found out that we hadn't even got it) |
Three sets of legs. : ) |
The children have played in the playhouse a lot even though it doesn't have a roof. In the next few pictures, they are building furniture.
Leandro, sitting on the porch after the last wall was built. |
Edgar put a makeshift roof of blankets on for the girls. |
Bethany, the neighbor girl : ), came to play. |
The proud owners. |
