My 15th Birthday

Sorry for this belated post. It's actually written on the 19th.
I don't feel that I'm fair to you readers if you don't get a post on my birthday although I do feel a little odd, doing it for myself.
Well, I'm 15 now. (Since the 17th). I had a wonderful birthday to say the least. In the morning, we went to the biannual Rummage Sale at the church across the street. We always enjoy going there and finding all sorts of cheap goodies. I enjoyed having it on my birthday. After cleaning up some of our goods, we carried on our regular day.
In the late afternoon, we started cleaning up the house and making supper. We had invited Janice and Nacho, Grandma and Grandpa, and Eric and Anna. During our supper making process, Linda came in and gave me a bar of homeade soap and the book A Chance to Die, the Biography and Legacy of Amy Carmichael, by Elizabeth Elliot. I am really looking forward to reading it.  We had roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn, canned beets, and coleslaw for supper. YUM!! Anna is the cake decorator around here, so Mama asked her to make my cake. She did a wonderful job. I was happy.

Janice gave me the book Me? A Home Missionary? by Nichole Hiebert, a birthday record book,  and some decorations. As for Mama and Daddy, they let me order a violin for my birthday. I am very excited about it since playing a violin has been my dream for quite a long time.

Here's some news for today. We got a new table today. We also got the news today that Denny Kenaston has only a little time left to live due to a fast growing brain tumour. Your prayers would be very much appreciated. And to those of you who know them, Nicholas and Judy have a little boy since Monday.

Well I had better go,

Disappointment and Joy

This week has been a week of joy and disappointment. We were planning on going to Great Falls MT for some shopping this weekend but then Mama caught a head cold and was in bed all day Thursday and some of yesterday. We didn't want to go when she wasn't feeling well so now we pushed our shopping trip off till next weekend. It was quite a disappointment since we were looking forward to going for almost a month or maybe over. We children were hoping so much that Mama would be better on Friday and we could still go that we cleaned the house all by ourselves and made carrot and banana bread. But we accepted the disappointment and are looking forward to next weekend.
One joy is that I passed my learner's test yesterday. I am very glad to have that over and done with. Now every time I look at my learner's book I can breathe a sigh of relief instead of "I should take that learner's test". I only had two wrong out of the five I can have wrong. I wasn't looking forward to driving very much but I'm actually starting to get excited.
Last weekend we went to Two Hills. Grandma and Grandpa are living there to help start a church. We had a very good weekend (except the driving was a bit long {5 hours one way})
I really enjoyed the youth girls they have there. I didn't know what I was missing with not having a bunch of youth girls at church. But we still have fun, right Elizabeth? I'm glad to have you back again. Looking forward to Sunday.
Well, I guess I should help with the Saturday cooking so,
                                                                                    till next time,

Prayer Request

Dear Blog Readers,
Prayers would be appreciated for Kathy Hofer. She is flying to Romania today to work in a hospital and preschool for two weeks. Pray for health and strength for her.
Kathy has lived at our house for two years but now she has been living in Manitoba for almost 2 years. She has wanted to go to Romania for a long time so we hope that she will be able to enjoy it.
                                                    Thanks for your prayers,
                                                                                         Yesenia

More Math

Good afternoon blog readers. It is a very beautiful afternoon in southern Alberta with our warm weather coming back.
Yesterday we had Janice and Nacho over and since they started the blog that I linked you to, we were talking about blogs. Joshua let me know that he would like some more math challenges so here you go. I'll give you one example and then one problem.
EXAMPLE: Find three consecutive odd integers such that 4 times the first is 14 less than twice the sum of 2 and the third.
             N, N+2, N+4,                            So the Integers are -1, 1, 3
             4(N) + 14 = 2(2 + N+4)         4(-1) +14 = 2(2 +3)
             4N + 14 = 4 + 2N +8             -4 +14 = 4+6
             4N +14 = 12 +2N                    10 = 10
         _____-12__-12__________
             4N +2 =2N
        __-4N       -4N
                  2 = -2N
Okay, now here is the problem:  Find four consecutive even integers such that -6 times the sum of the second and fourth is 8 less than 11 times the opposite of the third. Please comment for your answer. I hope that I made sense to you.

Happy 6th Birthday Elfrieda

                                   Happy 6th Birthday Elfrieda
You are such a sweet sister. So loveable, impulsive, outdoor-loving, cute, affectionate, and everything else that makes a little girl sweet. We love you and may God bless your next year. I'm sorry I'm 5 days late but I hope you still enjoy these pictures of our princess. Please tell me which one is your favourite.

Math

Hi all you math fans out there. I decided a while ago that I would do math problem for a blog post one day. Well, here it is.
The bicyclists were 300 miles apart at 3 p.m. and were headed toward each other. If they met at 9 p.m. and one was traveling 20 miles per hour faster than the other, what was the speed of each bicyclist?
No, you won't get a prize for the right answer but I want to see how many replies I can get.
                           From your math enjoying bloggist,
                                                                                 Yesenia

I couldn't figure this one out. Smile

I'm Back!!!!

I am very glad to be back to blogging. After having a 4-5 week break, it's good to be back. But I wouldn't  discourage anyone from taking a break from blogging or the internet totally. It makes it worth so much more once you come back. We have had a lot going on during the time that I wasn't blogging but I won't try to start at the beginning of everything, I'll just give you an overview of our week and I might do some other posts later on.
We had a very good Sunday at Willie and Marcie's. Of course we encountered some memories of Caleb and we want it that way. We really enjoyed ourselves.
On Monday, Linda came over for lunch. We were enjoying ourselves around the table after lunch when we heard a crash and a bang!! We all knew it was her one-and-a-half year old daughter, Kaylee, falling down the steps, but Linda wasn't that worried because Kaylee falls often. She ran to get her and when she looked into her bleeding mouth, she almost panicked. "Her teeth, her teeth, what do I do??" For Kaylee's three front teeth had all broken out. Mama took her to the ER but they couldn't do very much for her there, so she went to Lethbridge. Her other girls just stayed at our house and I went with her to Lethbridge.
Kaylee slept most of the drive, for which we were glad. David met us at the dentist's office and the dentists tried everything they could to save her teeth. But since the teeth had broken out with a piece of the bone, and they couldn't get somebody to put her to sleep, it just didn't work. They would just get the plaster on to keep the teeth in place and then she would break it out. Linda wasn't allowed in the room where Kaylee was, and yet, hearing her traumatic crying, pulled at her mother heart and of course on those around her. After over an hour wait in the waiting room, they finally just pulled the teeth out the rest of the way and we left. David told us over and over again that he wasn't becoming a dentist as we drove home. (He was holding Kaylee the whole time.)
But even after such an ordeal, she sure still didn't lose her determined, busy character. To get the bad taste of blood out of her mouth, David bought her an ice cream. She wanted to eat it all by herself and every last bit of it too.
Please pray for Kaylee and her parents. We are really hoping that her teeth will come back nicely once she gets the second set, please help us pray.
Yesterday we had Neil and Justina Dyck over for supper. We had a good evening.
This evening we are planning to have another singing evening. I'm looking forward to it.
Also looking forward to getting in contact with commenters,
                                                                                                                                          Yesenia
P.S. If you are getting emails from us with Click here to see attached photos please don't open them. Just delete them as soon as possible. They're most likely a spam. We are very sorry about that.
