Washing the Driveway

We children thoroughly washed the driveway on Tuesday so that we could put sealer on it. Since we have an exposed aggregate driveway (Yes, I'm a cementer's daughter) we have to put sealer on it to keep it looking nice. We did it when it was just done and now it was high time that we did it again. We had lots of fun making it wet, scrubbing it, and then rinsing it off again. Here's some pictures.

Busy, Busy, Busy.
There's time for play in the middle of work.
(At least for little brothers)

Leandro just loved spraying.
It didn't matter if his water ended up on
people, sidewalk, or sometimes the driveway.

Happy Birthday to a Dear Mama

Happy 38th birthday Mama. We love you. I know we often don't realize how much you do for us but we want to thank you for the many things that you do 'behind the scenes'. Thank you for your love, consideration, wisdom, reminders, comments, and your good example. Thank you for memorizing so much scripture and so many songs with us. Thank you for forgiving us. (Even when your oldest daughter breaks your best teakettle and you know that you'll probably never get one like it again.) Thank you for being our teacher and being concerned about what we learn. Thank you for faithfully cooking our meals and washing our clothing.  Whenever I read Proverbs 31 (as I did this morning) I have to think of you. Here are some verses from that chapter which I think describe you: (after the picture.)
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband does safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool and flax and worketh (and worketh and worketh) willingly with her hands. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She is not afraid of snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet (warm clothing {I am often thankful that you have taught us to dress warmly}). Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. (Behind every godly man, is a godly wife). Strength and honor are her clothing: and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. (And teaches her daughters to follow her example.) Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he trusteth in her. Many daughters have done virtuously but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands: and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Comments

Dear Readers,
To all of you who have tried and tried to comment only to fail again, this is a post to explain that. If you want to comment and you don't have a google (gmail or blogger) account, or you don't want to use it, press that little button underneath the comments that says, "Select profile" and press Name/URL (You don't have to have a URL (blog address) you just enter your name) or press Anonymous. Then type your comment and everything else you have to type in (to confirm you're not a robot :) etc.) Please tell me by email if it still doesn't work. But don't be surprised if your comment doesn't turn up right away. It first comes to my email and I have to confirm it before it appears. I hope this works for you,
                                   Sincerely,
                                                 Yesenia

My 15th Birthday

Sorry for this belated post. It's actually written on the 19th.
I don't feel that I'm fair to you readers if you don't get a post on my birthday although I do feel a little odd, doing it for myself.
Well, I'm 15 now. (Since the 17th). I had a wonderful birthday to say the least. In the morning, we went to the biannual Rummage Sale at the church across the street. We always enjoy going there and finding all sorts of cheap goodies. I enjoyed having it on my birthday. After cleaning up some of our goods, we carried on our regular day.
In the late afternoon, we started cleaning up the house and making supper. We had invited Janice and Nacho, Grandma and Grandpa, and Eric and Anna. During our supper making process, Linda came in and gave me a bar of homeade soap and the book A Chance to Die, the Biography and Legacy of Amy Carmichael, by Elizabeth Elliot. I am really looking forward to reading it.  We had roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn, canned beets, and coleslaw for supper. YUM!! Anna is the cake decorator around here, so Mama asked her to make my cake. She did a wonderful job. I was happy.

Janice gave me the book Me? A Home Missionary? by Nichole Hiebert, a birthday record book,  and some decorations. As for Mama and Daddy, they let me order a violin for my birthday. I am very excited about it since playing a violin has been my dream for quite a long time.

Opening Gifts
Here's some news for today. We got a new table today. We also got the news today that Denny Kenaston has only a little time left to live due to a fast growing brain tumour. Your prayers would be very much appreciated. And to those of you who know them, Nicholas and Judy have a little boy since Monday.

Well I had better go,
